Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co.,LTD (hereinafter referred to as "Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co.,LTD") was established in January 2021. It is a commercial aerospace company wholly owned by the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and is represented by Xi'an Xiguang Industrial Development Co., Ltd. It is a company that independently develops hyperspectral satellites and provides remote sensing data services. The company has precisely positioned itself across the entire business chain, encompassing satellite development, constellation operation, payload customization, and data development. It is committed to building China's largest, most comprehensive, user-friendly, and practical hyperspectral remote sensing constellation—the "Xiguang Series"—to comprehensively serve important fields such as agriculture, forestry, water bodies, minerals, and carbon sequestration.

The "Xiguang Series" hyperspectral remote sensing satellite constellation includes 108 general-purpose hyperspectral satellites plus infrared monitoring satellites, 40 dual-carbon monitoring hyperspectral satellites, and 10 functional hyperspectral satellites (for ocean, agriculture, forestry, and mineral resources), ultimately achieving the planned construction of a constellation of 158 satellites in orbit.

Currently, Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co.,LTD has formed rapid response companies around major regions across the country, established a marine economy subsidiary in Xiamen, acquired a stake in a low-altitude economy company in Korla, Xinjiang, established a satellite production and application subsidiary in Anhui, established a North China regional headquarters for airborne payloads and platforms in Shandong, and established a complete satellite manufacturing center and a Southwest China regional headquarters for platforms in Sichuan.
