In the summer of 2023, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, experienced several days of rainy weather, causing wheat to mold, lodging, and sprout, resulting in losses for affected farmers. Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co.,LTD, using the "Xiamen Science and Technology-1" hyperspectral remote sensing satellite in orbit, conducted remote sensing monitoring of wheat damage in specific areas, quickly acquiring spatial distribution and statistical information of the wheat, and generating a map of the wheat damage distribution in the experimental area.

Wheat planting monitoring results
This study utilizes the Xiamen Science and Technology-1 satellite, currently in orbit at Xi'an Zhongke Xiguang, to conduct remote sensing monitoring and statistical analysis of the entire region. By using high-quality hyperspectral imagery data from previous studies, monitoring was conducted at different stages of wheat growth, including planting, germination, and maturity. The high spectral resolution of the hyperspectral satellite imagery was fully utilized to accurately identify crops.
Based on hyperspectral image analysis and field survey results, it was found that due to rainfall in the early part of 2023, most dryland wheat matured early, and germination and mold problems were severe. The planting distribution is shown in the following figure.

Remote sensing monitoring of wheat disaster experimental areas
Based on field survey samples and hyperspectral remote sensing data, the area of wheat affected by disaster and mold was extracted. During the wheat extraction process of indoor interpreted samples, a wheat extraction algorithm model was established. The field survey modified sample library was input into the model for extraction to obtain the wheat disaster distribution map of the experimental area.
