The satellite is designed to have a lifespan of 3 years and will operate in a sun-synchronous orbit with an initial altitude of 500 km, an orbital period of approximately 97.5 min, and a local time of 11:30 AM at the descending node.
This satellite fully embodies the payload-centric design philosophy, with its main payloads being a hyperspectral imaging camera and a panchromatic camera. The hyperspectral imaging camera operates in the visible-near-infrared band, with a ground resolution of 40m@500km, a swath width of 80km@500km, and 150 spectral channels. It features advantages such as miniaturization, large relative aperture, low spectral line curvature, and minimal color distortion. The panchromatic camera employs a planar array imaging system, using a planar array scanning method to acquire visible-near-infrared spectral images of ground targets, with a ground resolution of 10m@500km and a swath width of 80km@500km.

During the satellite's on-orbit operation, relying on the optical remote sensing satellite ground application system, an image analysis and ground calibration subsystem and an image processing center are formed. The main function is to perform on-orbit calibration and verification of satellite geometric parameters. Key tasks include image quality analysis, image radiometric and geometric calibration, and image quality enhancement modules. Currently, the parsing and splitting of the downloaded raw data, the stitching and registration of strip data, and the image scene segmentation and cataloging have been completed to generate L0-level products. Subsequent work will involve relative radiometric correction, inter-band registration, MTF restoration, RFM model correction, and image fusion of the L0-level data, achieving standardized and rapid processing of multi-sensor data and quickly providing users with standardized products of stable and reliable quality.

As the first hyperspectral remote sensing satellite independently developed by CAS Xiguang Aerospace, the "Xiamen Science and Technology No. 1" satellite (XIGUANG-003) marks a crucial step in the construction of CAS Xiguang's remote sensing constellation. During the satellite's design and development, CAS Xiguang Aerospace fully leveraged its technological advantages and adhered to a path of technological innovation, smoothly coordinating the smooth progress of a series of tasks from design, processing and procurement, assembly and debugging, large-scale environmental testing, to delivery and acceptance. With the strong collaboration of the manufacturer, launch service provider, telemetry and data transmission service provider, and insurance provider, a powerful synergy was formed, successfully achieving the launch and on-orbit operation of the "Xiamen Science and Technology No. 1" satellite (XIGUANG-003).
