At this Silk Road International Exposition, the hyperspectral city-customized satellite exhibited in Hall 2, Xi'an Airport New City Exhibition Area, is the smallest and lightest hyperspectral satellite in China. Launched and operated stably in August 2023 by CAS Xi'an Optics and Lighting Aerospace, this satellite has been widely used in agriculture, forestry, marine, mining and other fields in Shaanxi Province.

"As the remote sensing satellite with the highest technical threshold, the greatest research and development difficulty, and the most application scenarios, hyperspectral satellites, unlike traditional optical remote sensing, can provide more and richer information about ground features. Simply put, it's like taking a CT scan of the ground features, revealing information that we cannot see with the naked eye," Qin Jing, General Manager of Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics CAS Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co.,LTD, explained during the tour of the exhibition hall by leaders and foreign guests.
The satellite booth attracted the attention of many attendees. Company representatives provided a detailed introduction to its independently developed first domestic hyperspectral remote sensing cloud platform. The successful operation of the platform will further enhance the networking capabilities of its 158-satellite hyperspectral remote sensing satellite constellation (108-satellite hyperspectral remote sensing constellation + 40-satellite hyperspectral dual-carbon constellation + 10-satellite hyperspectral functional constellation), providing data products with stronger functions, higher cost-effectiveness, and wider coverage, as well as big data application achievements in multiple fields such as agriculture, forestry, environmental protection, oceanography, dual-carbon, and geology. These achievements not only demonstrate CAS Xiguang Aerospace's profound accumulation in the field of remote sensing technology, but also reflect its positive role in promoting economic and social development and environmental protection.
After visiting the exhibition area, Kyrgyz leaders expressed great interest in the hyperspectral satellite and its applications, and hoped to further exchange and cooperate.

During the exhibition, CAS Xi'an Aerospace also announced plans to launch China's first high-resolution methane monitoring satellite (XIGUANG-004) in October 2024, as well as future remote sensing satellite programs. The company hopes that through technological innovation and application, it can better represent the technological and scientific research strength of Xi'an Airport New City and Xi'an as a whole, while also reflecting its mission and vision in promoting the integrated development of commercial aerospace and remote sensing technologies.
