Since 2020, driven by the global focus on "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality," China's carbon-related economic sectors have become increasingly active. In carbon monitoring, satellite remote sensing-based atmospheric greenhouse gas monitoring technology is one of the internationally recognized and only technological approaches (the other being ground-based monitoring and sensing technology), offering advantages such as wide monitoring range and stable data updates. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the Ministry of Science and Technology plans to invest 2 billion yuan to establish a global carbon satellite constellation for international environmental dialogue.

Against this backdrop, Zhongke Xiguang conducted extensive market research and user tracking. China is the first country to launch a commercial carbon monitoring remote sensing satellite constellation plan based on ultra-fine spectral detection technology.By making full use of the wide coverage of satellite remote sensing observations, a wide-area terrestrial ecosystem monitoring system can be built to help my country achieve its goal of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", enhance greenhouse gas monitoring and assessment capabilities, and contribute "Chinese wisdom" to the global climate change and carbon neutrality vision.

In response to the national goal and vision of "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality", CAS Xiguang has designed a remote sensing satellite that can monitor the concentration of major greenhouse gases to achieve "carbon neutrality". It is currently the first commercial aerospace company in China to launch "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" application technology. Through lightweight design, the methane monitoring satellite weighs less than 50 kg and the carbon dioxide monitoring satellite weighs less than 150 kg.Satellites can monitor carbon emission concentrations in key and hot cities and surrounding areas, including industrial, transportation, wastewater, and domestic activities. They can also assess regional emission change trends and drift trends through continuous and periodic monitoring, which can be used to identify emission sources and assess regional carbon neutrality capabilities.

Unlike the dispersive spectroscopy technology used by previously launched carbon satellites, the carbon monitoring payload scheme of CAS Xiguang... It employs ultra-compact snapshot interferometric hyperspectral imaging technology combined with 100-kilogram-class micro-nano satellite technology, achieving a spectral resolution of 0.1 nm at gas absorption lines in the near-infrared to short-wave infrared bands, enabling periodic satellite monitoring of greenhouse gas concentrations.

By optimizing the orbit design, high-resolution, high-frequency remote sensing data on greenhouse gases and quantitative data on land cover can be collected for key local areas and their surroundings. This data can then be processed through ground station operation and control services, as well as real-time remote sensing data acquisition and analysis. It not only enables the monitoring and tracing of carbon emission concentration changes, but also provides assessment data for carbon neutrality resource management through remote sensing statistics of green plants, serving as a powerful supplement to the launched carbon satellites.The promotion and application of diversified carbon monitoring technologies, combined with data collection through other monitoring methods, will help develop my country's independent and innovative greenhouse gas monitoring capabilities.
